Magic was at Evan’s place this week, kicking off a two week stint in Forest/Oak Park for the magic gang. Everything was free play this week.

It was a good chance for Evan and Ben to start using the new decks they’ve put together. With all the Zandikar / Cube draft nights we’ve had, they haven’t had many chances to test their spells out.

Ben’s fairing pretty well, party from taking the Juice strategy of getting singes tight away online. Evan’s taking a narrower approach similar to mine – forcing himself to play more with what he has. We played several games last night and each of them had a win at some point in the evening.

Despite their wins, I’ll still have to give the Play of the week to… Rite of Replication on an Umara Raptor. Yes, it’s my own play. Making 5 giant flying creatures with one kicked spell was a three person melee game breaker. Right after Carin had gotten over her mana screw. I’ll have the Professor play nicely next time. He get’s so evil sometime!
